Homemade Almond Nougat 🍬✨

A delightful sweet treat, perfect for gifting or enjoying at home!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups toasted almonds
  • Edible wafer paper (optional)

Steps

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or edible wafer paper.
  2. Heat Sugar Mixture: In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, honey, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Continue cooking without stirring until mixture reaches 310°F (154°C).
  3. Whip Egg Whites: Beat egg whites and salt in a large bowl until stiff peaks form.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Slowly pour hot sugar syrup into egg whites while beating on low speed. Increase speed to medium until thickened.
  5. Add Flavor and Nuts: Stir in vanilla extract and toasted almonds quickly.
  6. Transfer to Pan: Spread nougat mixture into prepared pan. Press evenly with greased spatula or wafer paper.
  7. Cool and Set: Let nougat cool completely at room temperature for at least 2 hours.
  8. Cut into Pieces: Remove from pan and cut into squares or rectangles.
