Classic comfort food with tender cabbage leaves stuffed with savory beef and rice, baked in tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 head of cabbage π₯¬
- 1 lb ground beef π₯©
- 1 onion, finely chopped π§
- 1 cup cooked rice π
- 2 tbsp tomato paste π
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce π
- 1 cup beef broth π₯£
- 1 tbsp soy sauce πΆ
- 1 tsp garlic powder π§
- Salt & pepper to taste π§
- 2 tbsp chopped green onions π± (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the cabbage: Bring a large pot of water to boil. Core cabbage and peel leaves. Blanch in hot water for 2 minutes until softened. Set aside to cool. π
- Make the filling: Brown ground beef π₯© and onion π§ in a skillet. Drain fat. Stir in rice π, tomato paste π , garlic powder π§, soy sauce πΆ, salt & pepper π§. Mix well and remove from heat.
- Assemble rolls: Lay out a cabbage leaf, spoon 2β3 tbsp of filling in center, roll tightly, tucking sides. Place seam side down in baking dish. Repeat. π―
- Make the sauce: Mix tomato sauce π and beef broth π₯£ in a bowl. Pour over cabbage rolls to cover completely.
- Cook: Cover dish with foil. Bake at 350Β°F (175Β°C) for 1 hour. π
