Ingredients
For the Meatballs
- 500 g (18 oz) minced meat
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 egg
- 30 g (1 oz) breadcrumbs
- 1/2 bunch parsley, chopped
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp salt
For the Sauce
- 40 ml olive oil
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 liter (4 cups) milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: Mix minced meat, onions, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, parsley, and spices until combined. Shape into walnut-sized balls.
- Cook the Meatballs: Heat skillet with olive oil. Brown meatballs on all sides for 6–8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In the same pan, heat olive oil. Stir in flour and cook 1–2 minutes to form a roux. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened (5–7 minutes). Season to taste.
- Combine: Return meatballs to sauce, coat well, cover, and simmer 10–15 minutes until fully cooked and infused with flavor.
