Ingredients

- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water 💧
For the Frosting
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened 🧈
- 3 1/2 cups (440g) powdered sugar 🍭
- 1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder 🍫
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk 🥛
- 2 tsp vanilla extract 🌼
Instructions
- Preheat: Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
- Bake: Divide batter between pans. Bake 30–35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool: Let cakes cool in pans 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- Make Frosting: Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa, then milk and vanilla. Beat until fluffy.
- Assemble: Frost one cake layer, stack the second, and frost the entire cake. Enjoy!
