Ingredients
For the Cookies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp pure maple extract
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
For the Maple Icing
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 2–4 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
- 1 tsp maple extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Make Cookie Dough: Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and maple extract.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture until combined.
- Shape & Bake: Scoop dough into balls (about 1½ tbsp each) and place on baking sheets. Bake 10–12 min until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely on wire racks.
- Make Icing: Whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, maple extract, and salt until smooth. Adjust milk for desired consistency.
- Ice Cookies: Spread or drizzle icing over cooled cookies. Let set before serving.
