- 1 cup buttermilk

- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Frosting
- ½ cup (2 oz) German chocolate, chopped
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation Steps
- Prepare Cake Batter: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round pan, line with parchment. Melt chocolate and butter until smooth; cool slightly. Whisk sugars and yolks, then add chocolate mixture and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Alternate adding dry mix and buttermilk to wet mixture. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks and fold gently into batter.
- Prepare Cheesecake Center: Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
- Assemble: Pour half the cake batter into pan. Spread cheesecake mixture evenly on top. Cover with remaining cake batter.
- Bake: Bake for ~1 hour until cake is set and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 30 minutes.
- Make Frosting: Melt chocolate and butter. Stir in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over cooled cake.
