A holiday favorite made simple in the slow cooker—layers of buttery toffee, chocolate, and peanuts for the ultimate festive treat!
Ingredients
- 16 ounces (approx. 45) whole saltine crackers
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 12 ounces milk chocolate chips
- 1½ cups dry-roasted, salted peanuts
- Optional: Flaky sea salt for finishing
Instructions
- Prepare Base: Lightly grease the insert of a 6-quart slow cooker. Arrange a single layer of saltine crackers to cover the bottom.
- Create Toffee Layer: In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Layer in Slow Cooker: Pour hot toffee evenly over crackers. Top with semi-sweet chocolate chips, then milk chocolate chips. Do not stir. Cover and cook on LOW for 2 hours.
- Add Nuts & Set: Turn off slow cooker. Sprinkle peanuts evenly over melted chocolate and press gently. Add flaky sea salt if desired.
- Cool Completely: Cover and let sit for 1 hour. Transfer insert to refrigerator and chill at least 4 hours until firm.
- Serve: Break into large, irregular pieces. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
