Ingredients

  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and diced (about 3–4 medium potatoes)
  • 1½ cups cooked ham, diced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese blend)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a medium baking dish.
  2. Cook Potatoes: Boil diced potatoes in salted water for 8–10 minutes until just tender. Drain.
  3. Sauté Onion & Ham: In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onion until soft. Add diced ham and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Make Sauce: Stir in flour, then add milk and sour cream. Cook until slightly thickened. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Assemble: In the baking dish, layer potatoes, ham mixture, and half the cheese. Pour sauce over evenly.
  6. Top & Bake: Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Serve: Garnish with parsley and enjoy warm.
