Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (65 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups (160 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Glacé cherries or maraschino cherries, halved

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla extract and mix to combine.
  4. Sift in flour, cornstarch, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  6. Pipe swirled rounds onto the prepared tray, leaving space between each.
  7. Place a cherry half in the center of each swirl.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
