Ingredients
- 4 cups potatoes, peeled and diced (about 3–4 medium potatoes)
- 1½ cups cooked ham, diced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese blend)
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a medium baking dish.
- Cook Potatoes: Boil diced potatoes in salted water for 8–10 minutes until just tender. Drain.
- Sauté Onion & Ham: In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onion until soft. Add diced ham and cook for 2–3 minutes.
- Make Sauce: Stir in flour, then add milk and sour cream. Cook until slightly thickened. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Assemble: In the baking dish, layer potatoes, ham mixture, and half the cheese. Pour sauce over evenly.
- Top & Bake: Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Serve: Garnish with parsley and enjoy warm.
