A traditional French holiday dessert—rich chocolate roll cake shaped like a festive tree trunk!
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 120 g sugar
- 1 bag vanilla sugar
- 120 g flour
- 1/2 bag chemical yeast
- 50 g cocoa powder
- 100 g butter
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 20 cl liquid cream
- 50 g icing sugar
Directions
- Preheat: Set oven to 180°C (thermostat 6). Butter and flour a rectangular baking sheet.
- Whisk: Beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar until foamy.
- Sift & Mix: Sift flour, yeast, and cocoa. Gently fold into egg mixture.
- Bake: Spread batter on baking sheet. Bake 10–12 minutes.
- Ganache: Melt dark chocolate and butter together.
- Shape: Remove cake, place on damp sheet, roll gently into log shape. Cool.
- Whipped Cream: Beat liquid cream into whipped cream. Add icing sugar.
- Assemble: Unroll cake, spread chocolate ganache, then whipped cream. Roll again.
- Decorate: Top with shredded chocolate or frozen brown pieces. Chill 3 hours.
