Crispy Fried Mushrooms with Cool Ranch Dip 🍄🥗✨

Ingredients
For the Fried Mushrooms
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
- 1 lb mushrooms (button, cremini, or oyster), cleaned & stems trimmed
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Cool Ranch Dip
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar
- ½ tsp dried dill
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or chives (optional)
Directions
- Prep Mushrooms: Clean mushrooms and trim stems if needed. Keep whole for juiciness.
- Soak: Mix buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add mushrooms, coat well, and soak 30 minutes.
- Breading Station: In one bowl, mix flour and cornstarch. In another, combine breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
- Coat Mushrooms: Dredge mushrooms in flour-cornstarch, dip back into buttermilk, then coat with breadcrumbs. Let sit 5 minutes.
- Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.
- Make Dip: Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in parsley or chives. Chill 15 minutes.
