Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Freeze: Freeze mozzarella sticks for at least 1 hour to keep shape while frying.
  2. Prepare coatings: Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in a third.
  3. Coat sticks: Dredge each stick in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumb mixture. For extra crunch, repeat egg and breadcrumb coating.
  4. Fry: Heat oil in skillet over medium-high. Fry sticks in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy. Avoid overcooking.
  5. Drain: Place fried sticks on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve: Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Add red pepper flakes to breadcrumb mixture for extra spice.
