Ingredients
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- Freeze: Freeze mozzarella sticks for at least 1 hour to keep shape while frying.
- Prepare coatings: Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in a third.
- Coat sticks: Dredge each stick in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumb mixture. For extra crunch, repeat egg and breadcrumb coating.
- Fry: Heat oil in skillet over medium-high. Fry sticks in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy. Avoid overcooking.
- Drain: Place fried sticks on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve: Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For a healthier version, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.
