Ingredients

Burger Sauce

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1½ tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt

Burgers

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 jalapeños, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: pickles or lettuce

Directions 👩‍🍳

  1. Make sauce: Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire, pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Chill until ready.
  2. Caramelize onions: In a skillet, melt butter. Add onions and cook low and slow until golden and sweet. Add jalapeños and sauté briefly.
  3. Form patties: Roll beef into 4 balls. Heat a griddle or skillet until very hot. Smash each ball flat with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook: Fry patties 2–3 minutes per side until crispy edges form. Top with cheese and let melt.
  5. Assemble: Toast buns lightly. Spread burger sauce on each bun. Add patty, caramelized onion-jalapeño mix, and garnish as desired.
  6. Serve: Enjoy hot with fries or onion rings.

Tips

  • Extra heat: Add pickled jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce.
