Ingredients

For the Cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp pure maple extract
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Maple Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2–4 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
  • 1 tsp maple extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Make Cookie Dough: Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and maple extract.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture until combined.
  4. Shape & Bake: Scoop dough into balls (about 1½ tbsp each) and place on baking sheets. Bake 10–12 min until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely on wire racks.
  5. Make Icing: Whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, maple extract, and salt until smooth. Adjust milk for desired consistency.
  6. Ice Cookies: Spread or drizzle icing over cooled cookies. Let set before serving.
