Nothing beats freshly baked pandesal for breakfast—soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet Filipino bread rolls.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup powdered milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ tsp)
  • 1¼ cups warm water
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • Bread crumbs (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make Dough: Add flour, sugar, powdered milk, salt, melted butter, and egg to yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
  3. First Rise: Cover dough and let rise for 2 hours.
  4. Shape: Form dough into small balls, roll in bread crumbs, and place on a baking sheet.
  5. Second Rise: Let dough balls rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
