Ingredients (Makes 2 Loaves)
- 2 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1.5 tbsp yeast
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 5.5 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Dissolve sugar in warm water. Add yeast and let proof until foamy.
- Once proofed, stir in vegetable oil.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt.
- Add dry mixture to wet mixture one cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough for 3–5 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, turn to coat both sides. Let rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down dough, shape into loaves, and place in greased bread pans.
- Let rise for 30–40 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 30 minutes.
- Brush tops with butter while warm. Cool slightly before slicing.
