Golden Easter Bread Delight

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 60 g sugar
  • 200 ml warm milk
  • 200 ml warm water
  • 8 g dry yeast (≈ 2¼ tsp)
  • 600–650 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 100 g soft butter (unsalted, room temperature)
  • 100 g raisins
  • 100 g dried apricots, chopped
  • 100 g walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: Mix warm milk, warm water, and sugar. Add yeast, stir, and let sit 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix Dough: Add eggs and salt. Gradually add flour until dough forms.
  3. Add Butter: Knead in butter gradually until smooth and elastic (8–10 minutes).
  4. Fold in Fruits & Nuts: Add raisins, apricots, and walnuts. Cover and let rise 1–1.5 hours.
  5. Shape & Rise Again: Punch down, shape into braids or rounds. Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush tops with beaten egg. Bake 30–35 minutes until golden.

Add the butter gradually after the gluten has formed. This makes the bread extra soft, airy, and rich.
